Back in May I had the pleasure of meeting essence.com beauty editor, Nicole Marie Melton, at my friend, Alexandra Butler’s “A Beautiful Face” Makeup Class in NYC (Pictured left). I decided to say hi, introduce myself and express my appreciation for selecting images of my work to appear on essence.com (as part of 100 Dramatic Transformations on Instagram)! From there we exchanged info and I was told to contact her later on that evening. Fast forward after a little bit of back and forth and casual talk we planned to meet up at her office. Let me tell you, I was so excited I didn’t know what to do with myself. I love that Nicole is so warm and inviting. You would think people in her position would be a bit stand offish or have that “everybody wants something from me/don’t bother me” type of attitude. I’ve met a lot of people in the industry and none of them are as sweet as she! We met up on her birthday woot woot! (You looked fab girl!) We chatted about a few things like my career goals and I was able to pick her brain as to how she got where she is now with essence. Now that I think about it, I’ll see if she’s up for an interview for my blog. Anywho, I just wanted to share with you guys some of the photos I took. What I loved most about visiting essence and meeting some of the staff, was that they carried the name of the company. Everyone was so polite! From welcoming me as I waited in the lobby, to Nicole walking with me to get some grub as I waited for my husband to pick me up. To be honest with you all, I’m going though a very, VERY tough time in my life right now. Just when you think nothing can top your last trial, God turns up the heat on you a little. Well for me it feels like he said, “Lets crank this up a few notches” lol . People like Nicole and the essence family encouraged me to continue to move forward with out letting these hard times break me, undoing everything I’ve already done. Thank you Nicole, Thank you essence for letting me dream, speak and providing a platform in which you’ve allowed me and so many others to shine!
Enjoy the pictures guys! I will be in this magazine one day! I ‘m learning how to speak life, INTO my life; and gaining the confidence to walk into my destiny.

In the elevator, I took a pic of the essence floor number. I was too excited. I am not ashamed! 🙂
I love the walk way that lead to the entrance doors! Large portraits of previous covers and some of my fave celebs. So inspiring!
Nicole Marie Melton and I…
Every girls dream…at least mine.
|I believe this is where products are tested and seasonal trends are selected. Where do I apply? lol Oh and my eyes look like I’ve been puffin on a lil something. I’m NOT about that life. I got caught mid blink! Just in case you were wondering. LOL|
Goodies I was sent home with! Good God-Almighty!!!
Well that’s all folks! I’ll keep you guys posted on things going on in the future! Keep your eyes peeled.
