Yesterday was wash day, so I figured it was the perfect time to test out Quench by Proganix! I’ll be sharing my thoughts on their Shampoo, Conditioner, Leave-in Moisture, and Moisture Balm. I’m very open about products I use on my hair. Meaning, yes I am a natural girl with very kinky 4cHair. However, this doesn’t mean everything I use needs to be 100% natural all the time. All I want to know is, “Does it work!?” So if you are looking for a break down of ingredients, this review may not be for you. I’m just here to tell you if it does, or does not do what it claims. What I do know is that its ‘nature + science’ formula of Coconut water, Coconut Oil and added electrolytes (Sodium, Potassium, Magnesium and Calcium claims to replenish hydration and maintain moisture balance. Let’s see if that is so.
Before I get into my experience with these products, Quench “…helps transform your dry, parched hair into hydrated, silky perfection with unique supercharged, lightweight blend infused with coconut water, electrolytes and coconut oil.” – ProganixBeauty.com
My hair can be on the dry side, so after reading what it should do for my hair, I was excited to see if my hair was nice and hydrated by the end of my trial.
(Disclaimer – I have no makeup on in the photos below and I still look beautiful. LOL Didn’t feel like wearing makeup this go round.) On to the review…
This shampoo is VERY thick. I had to squeeze the bottle a bit hard to get it out of the tube. At first, I thought it was clogged but after getting a good amount in the palm of my hands and rubbing it together, I realized it was the formula. I didn’t have a problems with it. With one wash I felt all the build up and excess product was removed. I didn’t see the need to shampoo a second time. Oh and need I mention, it smells amazing.
Next I applied Proganix Coconut H20 Conditioner and detangled with a wide-tooth comb.
|Texture, Texture, Texture!|
This is my hair after rinsing out the Shampoo. Very clean and vibrant.
Before we move along, I loved the shampoo and conditioner. My hair looks and feels hydrated. It also gave my hair a little shine, something I’ve been desperately looking for in a product. I feel my hair often looks dull, so it was a nice surprise.
As you can see in the image below, the leave-in has a spray pump for easier application. What makes me sad is that I absolutely hate what it did for my hair. Which is…nothing. I felt it took away from from the soft, shiny coils and curls that the Shampoo and Conditioner left behind. The Quench Leave-in Moisture made my hair feel crunchy and slippery. That, I did not like at all. I may try it out again in the future, just to see if I’m imagining things…however I won’t expect much.
On to the Moisture Balm…
After applying the Leave-in and it making my hair feel like apple jacks, I assumed the Moisture Balm would take that ‘crunchy feeling”away. Welp, it did not. The last 2 products did absolutely nothing for my hair. I will use the moisture balm again on another day without having the leave-in as a base. I may have a better experience with the item by not placing it over crunchy hair. I’ll be sure to let you all know if my experience with these items change.
The final result! (I still have to style my hair of course.)
Thanks for turning in guys. Out of all the products, I will continue to use the Shampoo and Conditioner. I must add that that I wish the package were more shower friendly. If you have to keep going back for more product, the tube is sure to slip out your hands. Right now, I’m sold on anything with a pump! So proganix, definitely think about that. LOL
While the Leave-in and the Moisture Balm didn’t work for me, that does not mean they won’t work for you! Try them out and let me know what you think.
Until next time…
